CHICAGO and LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 26, 2006) –

Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced today that University Physicians Associates (UPA), the medical faculty group for the University of Louisville School of Medicine, will implement the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record (EHR) to connect and provide clinical automation for more than 400 physicians and residents.

The Allscripts EHR solution will enable UPA physicians to have instant access to clinical records from any of the group’s more than 40 practice locations, the hospital or remotely, and provide a seamless connection to the other administrative and clinical systems in use by UPA. Louisville’s largest multi-specialty physician group, UPA is part of UofL Health Care, the region’s leading academic, research, and teaching medical center.

“Our partnership with Allscripts improves our ability to create a premier, patient-focused, integrated physician practice,” said Belinda S. Love, the Executive Director of the University of Louisville Medical School Practice Association. “We spent two years evaluating Electronic Health Records and ultimately selected Allscripts because, unlike the majority of the systems we saw, it is physician friendly and therefore broadly utilized by physicians.”

With the Electronic Health Record, UPA physicians can automate many of their daily clinical tasks, such as prescribing medications, ordering lab tests, viewing test results, making referrals electronically and documenting clinical encounters. TouchWorks drives clinical excellence by measuring key performance indicators and providing patient population management, with alerts to indicate when key disease management indicators fall out of range, plus tools to review the details of clinical measures such as care planning statistics, health maintenance and provider productivity.

“Our physicians now will be able to access patient information securely, anywhere at anytime,” said Jerry Rabalais, M.D., Chairman of UPA. “And the Electronic Health Record will improve UPA’s ability to provide quality care while ensuring a state-of-the-art environment for resident and student education.”

Allscripts, as a part of its strategic relationship with IDX (now a part of GE Healthcare), will provide standardized interoperability between TouchWorks Electronic Health Record and the Centricity practice management system (formerly IDX(R) Flowcast(TM)).

“University Physicians Associates is a world-class organization and we are excited to partner with them as they continue to lead the transformation of the delivery of healthcare in the Louisville area,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “UPA Physicians will also be a part of a new content development and review program underway at Allscripts.”
