CHICAGO and CORVALLIS, Ore. (October 17, 2006) –

The Corvallis Clinic, open since 1947, is one of the largest independent, multi-specialty physician groups in Oregon. By implementing TouchWorks, http://www.allscripts.com/prdTWEMR.aspx , the group’s 72 physicians and four mid-level providers will gain instant, secure access to patient information whenever and wherever they need it, whether in the clinic, at the hospital or while on-call.

“In the world of paper records, it is impossible to consistently deliver the highest quality of care in an optimal and efficient manner,” said Andrew Perry, Chief Executive Officer of The Corvallis Clinic. “To manage the vast amounts of data needed to track and improve our effectiveness in managing chronic disease, we need an Electronic Health Record. It’s becoming the standard of care, and we firmly believe this will ensure our ability to maintain high quality patient care.”

The web-based TouchWorks Electronic Health Record automates many daily clinical tasks, such as prescribing medications and documenting clinical encounters, and connects physicians electronically to laboratories, insurers and all other key healthcare stakeholders. The Allscripts solution also improves management of chronic disease and empowers practices to participate in valuable Pay-for-Performance initiatives. By automatically tracking key patient outcomes, TouchWorks gives physicians tools to review the effectiveness of disease management, including measurements of health maintenance, care planning and provider productivity.

After nearly two years of evaluating different Electronic Health Record vendors, The Corvallis Clinic selected Allscripts primarily because the company has the best physician references, said Chip Colby, Director of Information Technology.

“We went on a number of site visits and found many groups who liked their Electronic Health Records. But when we visited an Allscripts site, we were able to talk with physicians who not only liked the Allscripts product, but felt it was superior,” said Colby. “They were glowing. The physicians loved that they could customize the system in the way that best suited their practice style.”

TouchWorks will be integrated with The Corvallis Clinic’s new practice management system from NextGen, directly linking the clinical and financial information systems to support operational efficiency.

“There is no better way to optimize the effectiveness of physicians in managing chronic disease and the health of their patients than through the Electronic Health Record,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “We are excited to partner with The Corvallis Clinic to help them remain the preeminent source of patient care in the Willamette Valley.”
