REDICLINIC TO LEVERAGE ATHENAHEALTH’S EMR AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR ITS NATIONAL RETAIL CLINIC NETWORK
HOUSTON & WATERTOWN, Mass. (July 30, 2008) – athenahealth, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHN), a leading provider of internet-based business services to physician practices, today announced that RediClinic LLC, a leading operator of retail healthcare facilities, has selected athenahealth’s on-demand business services. RediClinic will use athenaCollector(SM) at each of its locations for revenue cycle management. A select number of RediClinics will also use athenahealth’s electronic medical record (EMR) service, athenaClinicals(SM).

RediClinics are in-store healthcare facilities that offer consumers convenient access to high-quality health services at affordable prices. The clinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who work with local physicians to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications for common conditions, such as earaches, strep throat and upper respiratory infections. RediClinic clinicians also administer a wide range of preventive services, including health screenings, flu shots and other vaccinations, and back-to-school physical exams. RediClinic visits are covered by the four largest commercial health insurance carriers – Aetna, CIGNA, Humana and UnitedHealthcare – as well as by Medicare and a growing number of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.
RediClinic currently operates 20 locations in H-E-B stores in Houston and Austin, TX; 15 locations in Wal-Mart stores in Tulsa, OK, Fayetteville and Rogers, AK, Atlanta, GA, and Richmond, VA. Additional RediClinics are scheduled to open in 2008 and 2009.
