Baldwin, NY (February 12, 2009) –
Precision HealthCare, a leader in healthcare technology solutions for doctors, announces the opening of two additional satellite locations to help physicians receive Medicare Incentive payments.
Last year changes to the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) Part D regulations provided financial incentives to physicians using electronic prescriptions. Medicare physicians who do e-prescribe are eligible for a 2% incentive payment in fiscal year 2009 and 2010 and then 1% in 2011 and 2012 and 0.5% in 2013. Physicians participating in Medicare who do not e-prescribe will receive a 1% payment cut in 2012 and 1.5% in 2013 and 2% in subsequent years.
McKesson Practice Partner Patient Records,(also part of Medisoft Clinical) and RelayHealth meet all of the five requirements that physicians need to realize this incentive. Electronic prescribing, as defined by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), a standards development organization, has two parts: Part 1: Two way [electronic] communication between physicians and pharmacies involving new prescriptions, refill authorizations, change requests, and prescription fill messages to track patient compliance. Electronic Prescribing is not faxing or printing paper prescriptions. Part 2: Potential for information sharing with other health care partners including eligibility/formulary information and medication History
Providers must use vendor products that meet Part 1 and Part 2. In order to receive the Medicare incentive, providers must e-prescribe with vendor products that are SureScripts-RxHub certified for all of the five services — E-Prescribing, E-Refills, RxHistory, Eligibility and Formulary.
On January 15, 2009, Precision HealthCare opened two new satellite offices. Our Brooklyn Office located at 45 Main Street, Suite 309 Downtown Brooklyn and Our South East Office in Pompano Beach, Florida located at 2700 West Atlantic Blvd Suite 266. “These new locations will allow us to serve our growing clientele in the North and South East Regions”, says Vanessa Best, President and CEO. The new Medicare electronic Prescribing initiatives have developed much interest in the physician community and we offer a certified solution that facilitates this incentive.” Implementation and Training for Doctors and their staff on procedures for receiving 2% incentive payments from Medicare have drove the need for additional staffing and space”, she adds.
President Obama’s proposed Economic Stimulus plan earmarks $2 billion for the Office of the National Coordinator for Electronic Medical Records initiatives. The plan potentially puts $40K into doctors’ offices to enable them to deploy the infrastructure and resources to automate their offices, thereby connecting them to Hospital and Pharmaceutical Systems throughout the country. As we await to see the final ruling, we at Precision HealthCare will continue to provide leading solutions to facilitate these programs from the leader in technology, McKesson as part of their Physician Practice Solutions unit.
Precision HealthCare Consultants was awarded the 2008 iCare Medisoft Award from McKesson due to their commitment to improving healthcare initiatives in their local community. In 2007 Precision was selected by Dell, the computer company giant, to be part of an exclusive group of businesses recognized as part of Dell’s commitment to small business. Ms. Best, President and CEO has also received certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist, Physician Based). She is a member of the National Association of Female Executives.
