NextGen Healthcare’s Technology Selected by Large New York-Based Multi-Specialty Group
Mount Kisco Medical Group Chooses NextGen for its Single Database Platform and Clinical, Financial, and Connectivity Products That Can Help Meet Meaningful Use
HORSHAM, Pa. (September 07, 2010) – NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII) and leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, today announced it has executed an agreement with Mount Kisco Medical Group, PC (MKMG) to deploy NextGen® Ambulatory EHR (Electronic Health Record), NextGen® Practice Management, and the NextGen® Patient Portal.
With more than 230 physicians representing nearly 40 different medical specialties, MKMG serves 250,000 patients annually through its 22 New York state locations. The organization was an early adopter of technology and has garnered a long-standing reputation for providing high quality care. Its providers generate 420,000 electronic prescriptions annually and began using electronic charts in February 1998. Through its agreement with NextGen Healthcare, MKMG will implement an integrated platform built on a single database to help better meet its financial and clinical needs, specifically as the organization works to demonstrate Meaningful Use.
“We determined that our previous EHR solution would not enable us to meet Meaningful Use criteria, so that factored heavily into our decision when selecting this new technology,” said Joe Abate, director of information technology at MKMG. “Not only does NextGen Healthcare offer a proven EHR product that it intends to certify to help organizations like ours meet these criteria, but its practice management and portal technologies also provide the enhanced functionality needed to significantly impact financial efficiency
“NextGen Healthcare’s commitment to innovation, success in supporting clients’ pay-for-performance initiatives, and its willingness to let our voice be heard during the selection process made them the right partner for us. We were also impressed by the camaraderie among large NextGen Healthcare clients and the opportunities to share best practices with other users,” added Abate.
NextGen Ambulatory EHR version 5.6 is a CCHIT Certified® 2011 Ambulatory EHR, additionally certified for Child Health and Cardiovascular Medicine with Advanced Reporting. The product features pre-built clinical templates and workflow for more than 26 specialties to help ensure complete, accurate documentation stored in a standard format. Point and click technology enables physicians to mimic existing workflow to help eliminate the need for dictation. Disease management templates in NextGen Ambulatory EHR also allow organizations to capture discrete data at the point of care, which is crucial for meeting clinical reporting guidelines for pay-for-performance programs.
NextGen Practice Management offers reporting capabilities that can be leveraged to accurately track quality improvement measures
NextGen Patient Portal promotes an interactive continuum of care between the patient and practice, facilitating effective electronic communication and clinical data exchange. The portal can be used to respond to patient requests for an electronic copy of health information, including diagnostic test results, problem lists, and medication lists and allergies. This level of patient interaction also helps organizations meet the Meaningful Use criteria for engaging patients and families in their healthcare.
“We are pleased to add a forward-thinking organization like Mount Kisco Medical Group to our client base and look forward to working closely together on the road to demonstrating Meaningful Use,” said Scott Decker, President of NextGen Healthcare. “For years, NextGen Healthcare has been working diligently to build products that meet the emerging needs of our clients. We are confident that MKMG

This news release may contain forward-looking statements within the meaning of the federal securities laws. Statements regarding future events, developments, the Company’s future performance, as well as management’s expectations, beliefs, intentions, plans, estimates or projections relating to the future (including, without limitation, statements concerning revenue and net income), are forward-looking statements within the meaning of these laws and involve a number of risks and uncertainties. Management believes that these forward-looking statements are reasonable and are based on reasonable assumptions and forecasts, however, undue reliance should not be placed on such statements that speak only as of the date hereof. Moreover, these forward-looking statements are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, some of which are outlined below. As a result, actual results may vary materially from those anticipated by the forward-looking statements. Among the important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from those indicated by such forward-looking statements are: volume and timing of systems sales and installations; length of sales cycles and installation process; the possibility that the products will not achieve market acceptance; seasonal patterns of sales and customer buying behavior; the development by competitors of new or superior technologies; the timing, cost and success or failure of new product and service introductions, development and product upgrade releases; undetected errors or bugs in software; product liability; changing economic, political or regulatory influences in the health-care industry; changes in product-pricing policies; availability of third-party products and components; competitive pressures including product offerings, pricing and promotional activities; the Company’s ability or inability to attract and retain qualified personnel; possible regulation of the Company’s software by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; uncertainties concerning threatened, pending and new litigation against the Company including related professional services fees; uncertainties concerning the amount and timing of professional fees incurred by the Company generally; changes of accounting estimates and assumptions used to prepare the prior periods’ financial statements; general economic conditions; and the risk factors detailed from time to time in Quality Systems’ periodic reports and registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A significant portion of the Company’s quarterly sales of software product licenses and computer hardware is concluded in the last month of the fiscal quarter, generally with a concentration of such revenues earned in the final ten business days of that month. Due to these and other factors, the Company’s revenues and operating results are very difficult to forecast. A major portion of the Company’s costs and expenses, such as personnel and facilities, are of a fixed nature and, accordingly, a shortfall or decline in quarterly and/or annual revenues typically results in lower profitability or losses. As a result, comparison of the Company’s period-to-period financial performance is not necessarily meaningful and should not be relied upon as an indicator of future performance. The Company undertakes no obligation to publicly update any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
