New Jersey’s Horizon Health Center Selects eClinicalWorks Unified EMR/PM
Horizon Health is First Federally Qualified Health Center in New Jersey to Implement Electronic Health Record System
Orlando, Fla., eCLINICALWORKS Users Conference (November 04, 2008) – eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Horizon Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving Jersey City, has chosen eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution to streamline practice operations between three locations – making it New Jersey’s first FQHC to implement an EMR/PM system. Providers will also have access to eClinicalWorks Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO) for enhanced reporting capabilities.
“Horizon Health spent nearly two years searching for an electronic health records system that was a fit for our organization,” said Marilyn Cintron, CEO of Horizon Health Center. “eClinicalWorks has a unified EMR/PM system so that we only have one system to maintain and its intuitive and adaptable nature makes it easier to implement. After speaking with its customers, we knew that the company understands our goals and will work with us to achieve them. Our Director of Business Development, Arlene Simon, was convinced that this system would facilitate the process and helped secure funding from HRSA for Cluster II in New Jersey.”
Horizon Health is implementing eClinicalWorks software, which is enhanced to meet the stringent reporting and billing requirements that apply to FQHCs, ensuring there is no interruption in the funding that supports its providers’ work. Using this system, internal processes will be streamlined between its Jersey City locations and patient safety will be enhanced while reducing costs. Horizon Health has also chosen to implement eBO, which uses meta-data to give the practice more flexibility through the creation of customized reports and by performing clinical and financial analysis.
“Horizon Health has seen the benefits that the proper electronic health records system can provide in improving practice performance,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “FQHCs represent a growing area in this market and, by selecting eClinicalWorks, the center is validating the strength of our product in FQHC settings. Using eBO with our EMR/PM will ensure that Horizon Health exceeds all of the reporting requirements that are notorious in federally funded centers.”
Horizon Health Center supports three facilities in Hudson County that focuses on advancing the science of medicine, while providing patient care. Diverse programs offered include: Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Family Planning, Dentistry, Psychiatry, Podiatry, Youth Educational/Empowerment Programs and Behavioral Health. Each year, Horizon Health Center provides healthcare services to more than 12,000 patients and handles more than 40,000 outpatient visits annually. Reflecting both Jersey City’s multicultural population and its patient base, Horizon Health Center has more than 150 employees and 20 plus physicians on its medical staff.
