Memorial Healthcare Selects Allscripts HealthMatics Office to Automate Clinical, Financial Operations for Physicians

One of the Nation’s Top 100 “Most Wired” Health Systems to Automate Physician Practices

CHICAGO & OWOSSO, Mich. (September 07, 2006) –

Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, today announced that Memorial Healthcare has selected HealthMatics(R) Office, the integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System (PMS) from A4 Health Systems, now a part of Allscripts, to automate clinical and financial operations for the hospital’s staff physician group, Memorial Medical Associates.

Memorial Healthcare is a 148-bed not-for-profit hospital in central Michigan that has been named to Hospitals & Health Networks list of the nation’s top 100 “Most Wired” health systems five years in a row – the only hospital in Michigan to receive the distinction five years running. Memorial Medical Associates, the hospital’s fully-owned physician group, includes 26 providers in 10 offices throughout the greater Shiawassee County area.

“We want to be the first place that people come for quality care and the clear market leader in using technology to transform patient care,” said Tom Ogg, Memorial Healthcare’s Vice President of Information and Support Services. “We are proud to be working with Allscripts because their product will truly change how our physicians access and update a patient’s health record. In addition to enhancing the patient care and management capabilities within a physician practice, HealthMatics Office can also improve the continuity of care and communication among care givers. When a patient comes to the Memorial Healthcare Emergency Department, we will have instant access to the most current clinical information from their physician.”

HealthMatics Office (http://www.a4healthsystems.com/ehr/) combines the power of HealthMatics Ntierprise PMS and HealthMatics EHR to provide one full-circle, seamless patient information management solution. Built on a single intelligent platform, HealthMatics Office will provide caregivers at Memorial Medical Associates instant and secure access to the complete patient record anywhere at any time, and enable the practice’s clinical and business sides to work hand-in-hand for better communication and improved accuracy.

After a year-long search, Memorial Healthcare selected Allscripts for its simple user interface, comprehensive functionality, and 24-hour, year-’round technical support.

“Our physicians visited a few sites where HealthMatics Office was already in use and they were very excited about how easy it was to use and the richness of its functionality,” said Frank Fear, Information Systems Project Manager for Memorial Healthcare. “HealthMatics is also easy for my staff to work with because it runs on industry-standard Microsoft SQL technology, and third-party systems can easily plug into it for interoperability.”

Memorial will eventually integrate the Allscripts solution with the hospital’s inpatient information system from Meditech, said Ogg. The hospital also hopes to host HealthMatics for interested non-affiliated physicians in Shiawassee County, in addition to Memorial Medical Associates.

“As full interoperability of all information systems becomes the standard in healthcare, we are excited to partner with forward-thinking organizations like Memorial Healthcare who share our commitment to that vision,” said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman. “Our integrated Practice Management and Electronic Health Record solution is clearly the right choice for physician practices who want to maximize both quality and efficiency, while enabling the connection with other key healthcare stakeholders that transforms care for the entire community.”
