(Nasdaq:ATHN), a leading provider of internet-based business services for physician practices, and Physicians Practice(r), America’s leading practice management journal for physicians, today announced that they will be hosting a industry-unique healthcare Payer Performance Panel to discuss the 2007 PayerView(sm) Rankings at The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Annual Conference being held in Philadelphia on October 28th-30th, 2007.

In May 2007, athenahealth and Physicians Practice released their second annual PayerView Rankings, which reflected the collective medical billing experience of more than 8,500 medical providers. The panel discussion entitled “Payer Performance Panel: Payers Respond to PayerView Rankings” will showcase leaders from the healthcare industry discussing this year’s results: Nancy Brown, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Government Affairs, athenahealth; John Kelly, Chief Business Architect for eBusiness Solutions, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care; Janna Meek, Director, Integrated Provider Solutions, Provider Network Operations, Humana Inc.; and Pamela Moore, PhD, CPC, Senior Editor, Physicians Practice.

During the panel discussion, payers will respond to the rankings, address their current provider network programs and discuss their collaborative work with athenahealth. The interactive session will allow attendees to judge the implications of the rankings and assess the role that transparency of payer business practices can play in improving billing efficiency.
