CHICAGO (May 25, 2006) –

Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced today that its TouchWorks(TM) Rx+ solution was awarded First Place for stand-alone ePrescribing systems in the 2006 TEPR Awards.

TouchWorks Rx+, the most widely used ePrescribing solution in the United States today, helps clinicians improve patient safety by identifying drug interactions, reduce pharmacy call backs by providing more legible and formulary-compliant prescriptions, and improve patient convenience by speeding refills and transmitting prescriptions electronically to their pharmacy of choice. Available on a wide variety of web-enabled devices including desktop computers, laptops, Tablet PCs, as part of the complete TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record (EHR), and soon on mobile phones, TouchWorks Rx+ is accessed via a secure web browser, enabling physicians to quickly prescribe, check for drug interactions, access medication histories and review drug reference information at the point of care, whether they are in the office or working remotely.

At the 22nd Annual TEPR Conference & Exhibition in Baltimore May 21-24, Allscripts also demonstrated its industry leadership by participating in the Clinical Documentation Challenge. During the challenge, which ran throughout the three-day conference, Electronic Health Records vendors were presented with a mock patient encounter and then given eight minutes to demonstrate how they would document that encounter. Allscripts demonstrated the capabilities of TouchWorks EHR, including ease of use, integrated order entry, health maintenance and other clinical alerts, allergy and drug interaction checking, access to medical knowledge bases, interactive clinical guidance, patient education tools, and disease management.

Additionally, Allscripts participated in the TEPR Continuity of Care Record demonstration, a collaborative effort showcasing the interoperability of Electronic Health Record and Personal Health Record (PHR) systems. Allscripts demonstrated the ability to populate TouchWorks EHR and its iHealth PHR module with claims-based data, as well as iHealth’s ability to empower consumers to exchange data such as medication and registration information between the EHR and PHR.

During the conference, Allscripts clients from across the nation demonstrated for TEPR attendees the many benefits of using an Electronic Health Record, and provided helpful strategies for making the most of the technology. Allscripts clients who use either the TouchWorks EHR, or HealthMatics(R) EHR from Allscripts subsidiary A4 Health Systems, delivered 10 featured presentations, among the most ever by a single company at TEPR:

Allscripts Chief Marketing Officer Dan Michelson led a presentation on using the Electronic Health Record to participate in the federal government’s “pay for performance” initiative to improve care outcomes.

Organized by Boston-based Medical Records Institute, the TEPR conference — Towards the Electronic Patient Record — showcases nearly 200 leading Electronic Health Record and related technology vendors and is widely considered to be one of the health IT industry’s premier events.

“TEPR is a great show to highlight the substantial progress being made in Electronic Health Records. And, while it represents an opportunity to demonstrate our software, which performed well with a solid showing for our TouchWorks EHR during the documentation challenge and a first place finish for our Electronic Prescribing, the real stars of the show are our clients, who are using our software to transform healthcare,” commented Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman. “By presenting at shows like TEPR, our clients make it clear that electronic healthcare not only makes a difference in patient care, but on the bottom-line as well. They are the leaders who will take healthcare in this country to the next level.”
