21 Providers with Rockford Orthopedic Receive Maximum Medicare Incentives for Meaningful Use

Orthopedics is Among Several Specialties that have Successfully Attested for Federal Incentives Using eClinicalWorks

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (December 29, 2011) – eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that 21 providers from Rockford Orthopedic have successfully attested for meaningful use and the practice has received a $378,000 check from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the maximum amount allowed for 2011. These incentives were established by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) to reward medical providers who successfully demonstrate meaningful use of an electronic health records (EHR) system in ways that improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of patient-centered care.

“Rockford Orthopedic strives to provide continuous advancements in healthcare,” said Cathy Matthews, EMR implementation lead for Rockford Orthopedic. “Working with eClinicalWorks has provided the tools to meet our goals as an orthopedic practice and improve our overall functionality. The MAQ Dashboards, road shows and Meaningful Use Assessment that the company provides played an important role in our practice achieving meaningful use. eClinicalWorks really worked with us to ensure that we had the necessary tools and education.”

Helping its customers through the attestation process, eClinicalWorks provides eClinicalWorks Meaningful Use, Adoption, and Quality (MAQ) Dashboards free of charge. To further meaningful use education, eClinicalWorks is conducting a series of RoadShows across the nation for medical providers, clinical staff and office administrators with 40 having occurred in 2011 and approximately 33 more planned to date in 2012. These are free interactive sessions on all 25 requirements of meaningful use and also demonstrate new features. There are also daily free webinars educating customers on this topic. With the MAQ Dashboards, RoadShows, webinars, newsletters, Meaningful Use Assessment and others, eClinicalWorks has developed tools and educational resources to aid providers in becoming meaningful users.

In addition to orthopedics, eClinicalWorks customers representing several specialties and sub-specialties have successfully attested to meaningful use, including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, obstetrics & gynecology, ophthalmology, among others.

“eClinicalWorks is dedicated in providing a comprehensive system, geared toward a high rate of successful deployments for any specialty,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “We have been working thoroughly to assure all of our customers are educated on the guidelines and our system meets the meaningful use criteria. As a leading orthopedic group in northern Illinois, we are proud of Rockford Orthopedic for its successful attestation.”

On July 13, 2010, the U.S. Health and Human Services Department released the final rule on meaningful use of an EHR under the HITECH Act. Signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009, the HITECH Act authorizes CMS to provide a reimbursement incentive for physician and hospital providers who demonstrate the meaningful use of an EHR.
