Connecticut’s Stamford Hospital Selects eClinicalWorks EMR/PM System and eEHX for Community Interoperability
A Leading Hospital Purchases 100 Licenses to Establish Electronic Health Records System, Improving Communication Among Providers and Patients
Westborough, Mass. (July 28, 2009) – eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Stamford Hospital, serving Connecticut’s lower Fairfield County and a major teaching affiliate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, has selected eClinicalWorks’s unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution for its employed and affiliated physicians. In addition to the EMR/PM system, Stamford will use eClinicalWorks’s Patient Portal, Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX), Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO) and eClinicalMobile – all designed to extend the use of electronic health records beyond the practice’s walls to improve communication and access to real-time information.
“We are very pleased and excited at Stamford Hospital to be able to offer our physician community a state-of-the-art electronic medical records platform at a subsidized price that practices can afford. We believe enhancing patient information exchange is an essential step to improve the quality and efficiency of the medical care we deliver,” said Andrew Snyder, MD, Vice President Ambulatory Physician Network Development at Stamford Hospital.”
“Stamford Hospital views the move to electronic health records as an opportunity to improve the quality of care delivered,” said David Taylor, Vice President of Information Services and CIO at Stamford Hospital. “After developing a physician steering committee, we looked at five vendors. eClinicalWorks’s market presence, ease-of-use and record of fast deployments made it the clear choice. The fact that the system was cost-effective when looking at both upfront and ongoing expenditures was an added bonus.”
Providers will implement eClinicalWorks unified EMR/PM system using a Software as a Service (SaaS) model so members are able to access the solution via the Internet. eClinicalMobile will permit Stamford physicians to access the system anywhere through their smart phone. Providers will also have access to eBO for customized reports. The Patient Portal will provide a secure, online means for patients to communicate with their doctor’s office for aspects of care including patient statements and education, while eEHX will create a community record to give physicians access to patients’ health information and allow them to exchange data more effectively. Combined, these technologies will extend the use of electronic health records beyond the practice walls to offer real-time access and updating of patient information anytime, anywhere and enhance communication between providers and patients.
“eClinicalWorks provides healthcare technologies that help both providers and patients improve communication, which leads to better care delivered,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “By utilizing eClinicalWorks EMR/PM system along with its complimentary technologies that enable community records and mobile connectivity, Stamford Hospital is showing its innovativeness and commitment to its providers, ensuring they have the most up-to-date and accurate information possible to deliver the best medical care. eClinicalWorks Patient Portal will bring patients closer by permitting them to communicate with the practice in a way they find more convenient.”
