ATHENAHEALTH AWARDED COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS CONTRACT

ORLANDO, Fla (February 27, 2008) – athenahealth, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATHN), a leading provider of internet-based business services for physician practices, today announced at the Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition, in Orlando, Florida, that Community Health Systems, Inc. (CHS) (NYSE:CYH), one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute-care hospitals, will replace its current practice management and billing systems with athenahealth’s centrally-hosted, on-demand practice management and billing service, athenaCollector(sm), for its largest corporate physician organization of more than 300 medical providers.

CHS currently owns or operates more than 125 hospitals in 28 states. CHS has also formally endorsed athenahealth as its preferred practice management and billing service for its national physician organization consisting of over 2,000 medical providers. Along with CHS’s corporate physician organization, 13 additional CHS locations have or are in the process of deploying athenahealth’s practice management and billing services to their physicians.
