Mr. Moritz was most recently Director of Enterprise Security Strategy for Chicago-based CNA, the 7th largest U.S. commercial insurer and the 14th largest U.S. property & casualty insurer, with 2006 revenues of $10.4 billion. At CNA, Mr. Moritz had primary responsibility for the insurer’s risk mitigation strategy and supporting infrastructure.
“As the use and importance of Electronic Health Records expands, it’s not enough to simply respond to security issues that arise concerning the privacy and security of patient information — leading companies will proactively address the security issue,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “Troy’s experience maintaining the security of financial information for some of the world’s top banking and insurance companies, who are the acknowledged leaders in security threat prevention, will help Allscripts continue to meet this critically important goal. His hiring is an indication of our commitment to this important subject.”
Prior to joining CNA in 2003, Mr. Moritz was a security strategist at UBS Warburg, a leading global investment banking and securities firm, where he was responsible for security and designs for financial technologies. Prior to UBS Warburg, Mr. Moritz played key leadership roles at Bank of Montreal, Abbott Laboratories, Unilever, Information Resources, the Chicago Board of Trade, and Perot Systems. He holds over 20 industry certifications from Cisco, Checkpoint, Microsoft, ISC2, PMI and others, and has served as author and subject matter expert for CompTIA’s Network+, Internet+ and Server+ technology certifications. A member of the U.S. Secret Service’s Computer Electronic Crimes Taskforce, his security strategies have been implemented by numerous governmental agencies, and in 2005 he was recognized by the Department of Homeland Security for his work designing secure corporate infrastructures.
“I am excited to be joining the senior leadership team of Allscripts, and looking forward to helping deliver on one of the most important security promises in the world today — the privacy and security of personal health information,” said Mr. Moritz. “Real security can only be achieved if you are continually vigilant and Allscripts is committed to preemptively enhancing its products to meet security threats before and as they unfold.”
Mr. Moritz holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.
