CHICAGO and PHILADELPHIA (August 02, 2007) –

Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced today that Frankford Health Care System has selected the company’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) solutions to automate and connect clinical and administrative processes for 100 physicians.

Part of the Jefferson Health System, Frankford Health Care System includes three hospitals in the Philadelphia area as well as ambulatory care sites, primary care satellites, and specialty physician practices. The agreement with Allscripts takes advantage of recent changes to the federal Stark regulations that now allow hospitals to provide certain assistance to physicians in purchasing healthcare information technology. Frankford will offer the Allscripts solutions to employed and independent members of its medical staff.

“By offering our physicians the Allscripts Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solutions, we can now provide a seamless network connection that facilitates an electronic dialogue among all the members of a patient’s care team, no matter where they are located,” said Roy Powell, Chief Executive Officer of Frankford Health Care System. “This system will make a significant contribution to our ongoing quality of care and patient safety initiatives.”

The Electronic Health Record functionality of the combined Allscripts solutions brings Frankford’s physicians instant access to patient information when and where they need it – at the hospital, in their offices, or while on- call at home. Allscripts automates everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling medications, ordering and reviewing tests, and documenting patient care. An easy-to-use and customizable solution, the Electronic Health Record features robust clinical tools that support safe medical practices, including health maintenance alerts, clinical decision support, and automated drug safety checking.

The Practice Management functionality of Allscripts combines sophisticated scheduling and financial management tools in a single package. Important features of the solution include rules-based appointment scheduling, multi- resource and recurring appointment features, referral and eligibility indicators, and appointment and claims management.

Powell said Frankford selected Allscripts after a comprehensive search in part because the company’s web-based architecture and its on-demand model suited their needs, both in technology and the ability to deploy the Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solutions cost effectively via the web to physicians.

“We are seeing more hospitals taking advantage of the recent changes to the Stark regulations to accelerate the adoption and utilization of information technology that can be deployed in a cost effective way,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “Frankford has set itself apart as a true leader in the Philadelphia area by providing this life-saving technology to their employed physicians as well as independent physicians to increase connectivity, improve quality, reduce errors and better manage costs.”
