Netsmart Technologies Introduces Netsmart Connect Suite of Solutions for Behavioral and Public Healthcare

Suite Enables Providers to Offer Continuity of Care and Consumer-Directed Care, Making Connected Care a Reality

Boston, Mass (May 01, 2008) – etsmart Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-wide software and services for health and human services organizations, today introduced the Netsmart Connect(TM) suite of on-demand and licensed software solutions. The announcement was made at the 38th Annual Conference of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare in Boston, Mass.

The Connect suite provides behavioral and public healthcare organizations with the elements needed to achieve total connected care by ensuring that clinical information is available internally, shared externally with authorized parties and provided to consumers via the Web. The Connect suite is designed to work with Netsmart’s Avatar, CMHC/MIS, Insight and Helper enterprise product lines, which furnish Netsmart customers with solid practice management, program management and electronic health record (EHR) capabilities.

“As the technology partner of the largest customer community in behavioral and public health, we are well-positioned to lead the effort to make a connected care a reality in the industry,” said James L. Conway, chief executive officer, Netsmart Technologies. “We help our customers provide consumer-directed care with the confidence that they have the systems to be successful today and to meet evolving requirements and standards in the future.”

Internally, the Connect suite ensures that clinical information is available to clinicians where and when it is needed at the point of care, including supporting the unique needs of mobile caseworkers. Externally, the suite enables behavioral and public health providers to securely share information such as referrals, discharge summaries and medication records with other organizations involved in the consumer’s care, including primary care facilities and other entities like regional health information networks (RHIOs).

The suite also enables providers to send patient statements and other data quickly and securely to multiple payers in a single transmission via a Netsmart electronic data interchange (EDI)-based service. This eliminates the need for providers to maintain individual connections with multiple payers, and simplifies the process of transmitting claims and remittance files.

Finally, the Netsmart Connect suite includes a consumer care portal, enabling consumers to have a direct, Web-based link to their providers for information exchange and reference.

The components of the Netsmart Connect suite include:

Netsmart MobileConnect
A solution that enables a clinician or case manager to work disconnected in the field with a notebook or tablet computer, then synchronize upon returning to the office, furthering the concept of connected care and eliminating the need for error-prone and time-intensive re-keying of data.

Netsmart CareConnect
A service built on national standards that ensures continuity of care by enabling clinical data to be shared between providers and other entities such as RHIOs.

Netsmart ClaimsConnect
An EDI-based network service that enables agencies to quickly and securely send information to multiple care providers, managed care organizations and other external entities in a single transmission even if they have widely differing data formatting and submission requirements. This complements the capabilities of Netsmart enterprise software, which already furnishes agencies with a HIPAA-compliant method to transmit claims, receive electronic remittance, and send statements.

Netsmart ConsumerConnect
A consumer Web portal that enables Netsmart customer agencies to proactively involve consumers in their care. Using the portal, consumers can schedule appointments, review and comment on their treatment plans, view current medications and track usage, and communicate with their care providers.

MobileConnect, ClaimsConnect and ConsumerConnect are available immediately. A prototype of CareConnect was demonstrated at the recent Netsmart CONNECTIONS2008 customer conference. Netsmart is working collaboratively with customers to ensure that the new service meets customer and industry requirements prior to being made generally available.
