Great River, NY (July 09, 2009) – Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for health and human services organizations, today announced it is ranked #41 in the Healthcare Informatics Top 100 listing of healthcare information technology (HIT) providers for 2008.

The HCI 100 listing was published in the June 2009 issue of Healthcare Informatics magazine(http://www.healthcare-informatics.com). Netsmart’s ranking of #41 is up from #51 just two years ago.

“We’re pleased to be the sole behavioral and public health software and services provider in this ranking of high quality, highly visible healthcare technology companies,” said James L. Conway, chief executive officer, Netsmart Technologies. “As the leading software provider in our industry, we are proactively addressing critical, fast-evolving industry issues on behalf of our customers, including the integration of behavioral health and primary care, the impact of federal stimulus legislation and the sharing of information between providers through health information exchanges (HIEs).

Conway added, “With the certification of our Avatar 2006 software, we led our industry as the first behavioral healthcare, public health, substance abuse and methadone software and services provider to have a product certified according to the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT®) Ambulatory EHR 2006 criteria.”

The HCI 100 ranking is based on healthcare information technology revenue of submitting companies for 2008. HIT revenue is defined as the sale of computer hardware, software and related services to hospitals, clinics and physician practices for information management and workflow automation in clinical, financial, administrative and ancillary department applications.
